3 Clean Energy Stocks I’m Buying Before the December Cliff

Wed, Nov 19, 2025

The energy sector feels crowded right now. Everyone is talking about the "One Big Beautiful Bill Act" passed back in July, but most retail investors are missing the fine print... specifically the deadline.

There is a massive regulatory cliff coming on December 31st.

Starting January 1, 2026, strict "Foreign Entity of Concern" (FEOC) rules kick in. If a project uses Chinese hardware, the tax credits vanish. That means developers are currently in a mad dash to "safe harbor" their equipment before the ball drops on New Year's Eve.

I went looking for the outliers... the companies that win regardless of the noise because they are the only ones with the inventory or the tech to save these developers.

If you're new to my analysis process, I use a specific framework to filter noise and find these specific catalyst dates. Before I dive into the tickers, check out my 10x Stock Checklist: My Exact 47-Point Analysis Framework. It’s how I keep myself honest when the charts look too good to be true.

Array Technologies

ARRY7.5🟡$6.70
View Analysis →
Array Technologies Inc

Array isn't flashy. They make solar trackers—the motors and steel that move panels to follow the sun.

But here is the moat... they have a massive U.S. manufacturing footprint. When developers need to prove to the IRS that they have "domestic content" to lock in their credits before December 31st, Array is the safe phone call. They are the path of least resistance for billions in capital expenditure.

The financials looked good, but I had to be sure. So I ran it through my 10x Stock Checklist: My Exact 47-Point Analysis Framework... and it passed the "Management Integrity" check with flying colors, specifically because they didn't over-promise on guidance earlier this year.

  • Price: ~$9.21
  • Market Cap: ~$1.3B
  • Rev Growth: +70% (Q3 '25)
  • Gross Margin: 26.9%
  • Catalyst: The Dec 31st Safe Harbor Deadline

Eos Energy Enterprises

EOSE8.0🟢
View Analysis →
Eos Energy Enterprises Inc

This is the risky one. My stomach churns a bit with this volatility... but the asymmetry is impossible to ignore.

Eos makes zinc-based battery storage. Why does that matter? Because almost everyone else uses lithium, and the supply chain for lithium is heavily tied to China. Under the new Jan 1 rules, lithium projects are going to face a nightmare audit. Eos is inherently compliant. They are the only viable non-lithium option for utilities that are terrified of the IRS.

I don't trust the numbers blindly. I pull up the chart on TradingView to check the Volume Profile. If you aren't using their advanced charts yet, you should... it saves me hours of headaches. I use the pro Screener to filter for "Market Cap < 2B" and "Relative Volume > 2". It's the easiest way to spot momentum before the news does.

  • Price: ~$13.80
  • Market Cap: ~$2.6B
  • Growth: ~1,600% YoY (Production ramp is finally hitting)
  • Cash: 12+ months runway (Just raised ~$500M+ in Nov)
  • Risk: High execution risk. They have to build these things fast

Shoals Technologies

SHLS8.1🟢
View Analysis →
Shoals Technologies Group Inc

Shoals is the classic "pick and shovel" play. They don't sell the panels; they sell the "EBOS"—the complex wiring and connectors that make the plant work.

I like them because of labor costs. Inflation is sticky. Hiring electricians is expensive. Shoals sells a "Big Lead Assembly" that is pre-wired, meaning you need fewer humans on site to plug things in. As developers rush to finish projects in Q4, they are paying a premium for anything that saves time.

  • Price: ~$8.40
  • Market Cap: ~$1.57B
  • Margin: 37.0% (Best of the bunch)
  • Backlog: Record high ($720M)

The Reality Check (Risks)

I want to be clear... I could be wrong.

The bear case here is simple: Politics. If the OBBBA gets tied up in litigation or the Treasury Department issues a surprise waiver for foreign materials, the "urgency" for these domestic stocks evaporates. Also, Eos is historically a cash-burning machine. If they fumble this production ramp, that new cash pile will disappear fast.

My Plan

I am looking to open a position in Array (ARRY) first, likely around the $9.00 mark, as a defensive play on the December deadline. I'm keeping Eos (EOSE) on my watchlist for a momentum breakout, but I need to see the volume hold up.

Investing in small caps is a minefield. If you want to see exactly how I vet these companies to avoid zeroes, grab my 10x Stock Checklist: My Exact 47-Point Analysis Framework. It helps me stay objective when the hype gets loud.

Conclusion & Verdict

The December 2025 deadline is real, and the money is moving. I'm betting on the companies that solve the compliance headache for the big developers.
